Dates: 6, 7, 13, & 14th July 9am - 4.30pm (Plus 9th & 11th July 6.30 - 9.30pm)

• Minimum Age: 16
• Course Duration: Maximum 32 hours
• Course Prerequisites: None
• Course aims and objectives: This course will provide an introduction to the organisation and delivery of safe and enjoyable coaching sessions for young players. It is ideally suited to those working with groups of young players and/or teams.

Course Content:

Theory: The course will introduce some key aspects in the following:

• Football Club Administration
• Player and Coach development
• Soccer Parent
• Laws of the Game
• An introduction to the FA's Long Term Player Development Model

The course will also provide the following for candidates:

• FA Emergency Aid (included in the course programme)
• FA Safeguarding Children in Football (included in the course programme)

Practical: Practical elements of the course will provide an introduction to:

• Warm up and cool down game related activities
• Passing and control
• Turning with the ball
• Dribbling
• Shooting
• Heading
• Goalkeeping
• Individual Attacking
• Individual Defending
• Small sided games

Practical Involvement: Candidates will be encouraged to participate practically to maximise their opportunities for learning. (This however will not prevent successful completion of the award)Assessment: Assessment is via successful completion of:

1. All pre-requisites (First Aid/Safeguarding Children)
2. All portfolio tasks
3. Practical delivery of a 20 minute practical coaching activity based on a specific skill and age group, which demonstrates safe practice, organisation, enjoyment and progression to meet the needs of the players.

FA YOUTH MODULE 1: DEVELOPING THE ENVIRONMENT

27th & 28th July Plus 3rd & 4th August 2013

• Course Prerequisites: Minimum 1st4sport Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football or Qualified Teacher (QTS) who has completed the Age Appropriate Coaching - Introductory Module
• It is a requirement for completion of your Youth Module qualification to be a member of The FA Licensed Coaches’ Club, and evidence of this will be sought from your tutor, your County FA, and/or The FA, before certification is made.If you are not already a member of The FA Licensed Coaches' Club, please send your course enrolment confirmation to  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. • Who is it for: Aimed at coaches at all levels who want to become more knowledgeable and effective when coaching young players. There are generic strands relating to teaching and learning, motivation and self-esteem that are suitable for most coaches.
• Course aims and objectives: The course will provide practical sessions and advice for when coaching this age group, and will increase the candidate's knowledge of how to develop their coaching to incorporate The FA 4 corner model. The course will cover technical development and in the physical corner it will offer FUNdamental ideas for the coach to use as well as suggested activities for the development of football specific movements. The important Social and Psychological development of the young player is also examined.
• Leading to: FA Youth Award Module 2 - Developing the Practice

Course Content:

Theory: The course will introduce some key aspects in the following:

• The importance of the social corner and how it links with the 4 corners.
• How players learn
• Motivation
• Self-Esteem
• Managing Mistakes
• Managing Physical, Technical, Social and Psychological Difference
• Planning Activity

Practical: Practical elements of the course will provide an introduction to:

• Physical corner FUNdamental warm-ups
• Practical activities and games

Practical Involvement: Candidates will be encouraged to participate practically to maximise their opportunities for learning.
